One of the more popular attractions at each year’s Chicago Auto Show are the indoor test tracks and outdoor test drives. This year will feature three indoor tracks, including the Chicago Drives Electric EV test track. Show attendees will not only have the opportunity to gather information on the latest vehicles available, but they’ll also be able to ride in some of those vehicles on the indoor tracks. Other manufacturers will be offering outdoor test drives of select models.

INDOOR TEST TRACKS (Requirements for participation vary with each manufacturer.)

Ford Bronco on the indoor test track at the Chicago Auto Show

Ford Built Wild – ‘BUILT WILD’ showcases the capability of Ford’s Bronco family of vehicles. The highlight is a Bronco off-road course, where visitors will tackle a 38-degree Bronco Mountain. You’ll feel the thrill of the climb while learning more about impressive Bronco tech like G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Terrain) Mode capabilities and technology that makes off-roading even more exciting and intelligent. Riders must be 44″ tall minimum.

Hyundai Track – Auto show attendees can experience the Kona Electric, IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 first-hand while visiting the Hyundai booth (must be 18 years or older to participate). After registering for the drive, participants will be driven by a professional driver around the course highlighting the vehicle’s awarding winning features..

Chicago Drives ElectricThanks to a partnership with ComEd, the 2024 Chicago Auto Show features a battery-powered electric vehicle test track that will allow attendees to go for a ride in some of the latest battery-powered electric vehicles. Participating manufacturers include: BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, Kia, Lucid, Nissan, Tesla and Volkswagen. This year’s featured vehicles include:

  • FORD F-150 Lightning
  • VOLKSWAGEN ID.4
  • BMW i5
  • KIA EV6
  • TESLA Model 3
  • BMW i7
  • KIA EV9
  • TESLA Model X
  • CADILLAC Lyriq

  • CHEVROLET Silverado EV Work Truck
  • NISSAN Ariya

Consumers can ride along with professional drivers on the track and experience the unique feel of driving in an electric vehicle, including the power that comes from instant torque. Each manufacturer will manage their own registration process within the track so attendees can ride in a variety of EVs – making it the perfect location to compare different models.
